ABOUT DIALOGUES:
on Pornography
While pornography is as old as human civilization itself, never before has porn use been more accessible, more affordable, and more anonymous. As a result mental health professionals are forced to contend with pornography's growing influence - from the impact it has on developmental sexuality to the growing movement about pornography addiction to the empirical research that correlates porn use with violence. By introducing participants to diverse, cross-disciplinary perspectives on pornography, this Dialogue invites us to turn toward, feel into, wrestle with, and think more complexly about our collective response to pornography in the clinic, consulting room, and community at large.

The Laura C. Harris Series welcomes Shine Louise Houston, Jiz Lee, and Mireille Miller-Young presenting a discussion of feminist and queer pornography. In this talk, they will discuss their work in the production, circulation, and reception of feminist and queer pornography.
Houston is an award-winning feminist pornographer,director, producer, and CEO of Pink and White Productions. Lee is a genderqueer (they/them) porn performer, producer, artist, and activist. Miller-Young holds a doctorate in history from New York University and is an associate professor in the department of feminist studies at University of California-Santa Barbara where she explores race, gender and sexuality in visual culture and sex industries in the U.S. She is the author of “A Taste for Brown Sugar: Black Women in Pornography” and co-editor of “The Feminist Porn Book: The Politics of Producing Pleasure.”
